Education/ Experience:
Health Care Aide Certificate/Personal Support Worker Certificate
and or recent working experience
Responsible To:
When providing relief staff or duty care Health Care Aide/
Personal Support Worker works under the direct supervision
of the Registered Nurse/ Charge Nurse of the unit to which
he/she is assigned.
Duties:
- Provide basic health and personal care
for each client
- Provides each client with meaningful companionship,
observation, safety and conservation
- Participates in the rehabilitative approach
to patient care
- Ensures that the client's surroundings
and personal effects are clean, tidy and serviceable
- Performs within the scope of his/her education
and experience. This may include but is not limited to
the following skills.

When on an assignment, the Health Care Aide/
PSW reports to the Nurse in Charge, designated Registered
Nurse on duty and follows the instructions as directed.
Accountability:
The Health Care Aide/ Personal Support
Worker complies with:
- The position description of a Health Care Aide/ Personal
Support Worker of Nursing & Homemakers Inc.
- The policies and practices of the institution of which
he/she is assigned.
- Every Health Care Aide/ Personal Support Worker exercises
judgement in accepting tasks and is responsible for his/her
actions.
