PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER HOSPITAL ASSIGNMENTS
HOSPITALS
As a personal support worker your role include working as a constant observer or floor duty duties ( assisting nurses on the units) when assigned to hospital settings.

Education/Experience:
Personal Support Worker Diploma from an approved program. Minimumn of one year experience.

Responsible To:
When assigned to hospital or long term care settings you will work uner the direct supervision of the registered nurse.

Duties:
Assessing client's needs
planning and implementation of client's care
assist with basic personal care, such as bathing, feeding, dressing and toileting patient
assist with ambulation and mobilization of client including use of Hoyer Lift.
provision of emotional and support services to client and family.
crises prevention intervention
monitor patient on 1:1 as required under the direction of nurse.
takes and records blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratoin, body weight and height ( if trained for this procedure)
providing cpr and first aid
monitor client intake and output
records documentation
provision of safe work environment
collects specimens for medical tests such as urine and faeces.
performs within the scope of his/her education and expertise.

Accountability:
The personal support worker exercises judgment in accepting tasks and is responsible for his/her actions.
